Ayurveda recommends doing a cleanse/detox at two important times of the year — the seasonal transitions into Spring and Fall, with Spring being most important. Without cleansing, we can carry the heaviness of winter into the next cycle of the year, making it so that we continually accumulate as we age. Getting fatter and sicker over the years is not an unavoidable outcome as we age. It’s just a product of living the “normal” modern lives of being over scheduled, over fed, under nourished, and disconnected.
